Portable Inspiration Archive (ongoing)

The archive was conceived during the Shipley Gallery residency in 2005; it holds images and text gathered from items found in an abandoned museum basement room within the museum. I used it as an inspirational resource during workshops with 9 creative writing groups around the NE and in Yorkshire - including the design of a postal workshop for housebound carers.

I seek collaborating institutions, such as museums or achival resources, with which to develop the content further. It is available for hire and development - writers groups especially enjoy the resource - the themed drawers include descriptive lots from a 1970’s BBC costume auction catalogue (see below) which can be used to prompt new character development.

Lot 100 - A box containing three fancy dress wigs, various moustaches, hair-pieces and false noses.

Lot 474 - A scarlet velvet skating dress, the hood, bell sleeves and hem trimmed with white swansdown.

Images and text, printed on paper (some laminated); digitally scanned from original items, stored in a portable drawers system.
